Story of my life
Unveiling the Story and Mission
From where it began
Expertise and Experience
With a specialization in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD) evaluations and interventions, I've spent years honing my skills in this vital field. For the past few years, I've had the privilege of working exclusively with individuals aged 18 years and younger at the Kaiser Permanente ASD Clinic completing ASD evaluations. My journey also includes significant experiences, such as conducting special education eligibility assessments in a school setting, performing various diagnostic evaluations in a neuropsychological assessment clinic, and providing essential care at the Veteran Affairs hospital to those who serve us, including end-of-life care, individual and group therapy, and addressing medically and psychiatric complex disorders. Additionally, I’ve worked at a community mental health clinic, offering mental health treatment to the transgender community. I have also worked at the UC Davis Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (MIND) Institute for a study that investigated the environmental and biological factors of autism while also providing families with clinical care. My commitment to excellence remains steadfast, as I actively participate in regular ASD-related training and collaborate with fellow autism specialists. These diverse experiences have afforded me a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of ASD and IDD.
Journey of my life
Research and Academic Pursuits
My dedication to advancing the understanding of ASD extends to my academic pursuits. My graduate school dissertation delved into the intricate dynamics of parent-child relationships within the context of ASD. Furthermore, I completed the year-long Leadership and Education of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (LEND) training program through the UC Davis MIND Institute, enhancing my knowledge in the field. I have had the privilege of presenting research findings at several conferences, shedding light on Perinatal risk factors and IDD.
Hands-On Approach
Beyond my clinical and research roles, I have practical experience as a behavioral therapist, offering invaluable support to families. Additionally, I've served as a teaching assistant in a special education classroom, gaining insights into the educational aspect of ASD.
Personal Connection
My connection to autism is deeply personal. Growing up with a beloved brother and sister-in-law diagnosed with ASD has profoundly deepened my understanding and empathy. These collective experiences have molded me into a professional with a heartfelt understanding of autism and autism assessments. My commitment is rooted in making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with ASD and their families. Thank you for considering me as your partner in your journey towards a better understanding of autism and developmental disabilities.
